'Twas the Night Before Christmas - An A-1 American Tale

December 24, 2025

Merry Christmas from the A-1 American Family to Yours!

’Twas the night before Christmas, all through the house,
Not a water or sewer pipe leaked — not for kids nor for spouse.
From kitchen to bath, every fixture was tight,
No drip dared to echo this calm winter night.

The gas lines ran safely to furnace and flame,
To chimneys and appliances — all perfectly tame.
The homeowners hoped, if Saint Nick should appear,
That the house would stay warm and the pipes would stay clear.

Our customers nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of pudding danced in their heads.
Of steady warm heat and plumbing just right,
Making Christmas Day easy from morning till night.

Ray, VP and Master Dual Technician, settled and parked his van,
With Chris, HVAC Service Technician, following plan.
They’d finished installs — heat pump, furnace, gas packs —
And they THOUGHT the long winter night was clear to stay on track.

When out on the customers lawn there arose such a clatter,
The family sprang up to see what was the matter.
Over to their phone they flew like a flash
The Dad threw open the front door as the water heater made a terrible SPLASH!

Then they saw the sewer line rupture on new-fallen snow,
Giving the luster of brown, the neighbors crying — “Oh no!”
When what should their wondering eyes then appear,
But Adam, A-1 American plumber, in his work sleigh drawing near. And eight other A-1 American technicians were near!

With Jake, Veteran HVAC Technician, lively and quick,
They knew in a moment he’d do just the trick.

More rapid than American Eagles the A-1 American Plumbing and HVAC team came, and as they passed our loyal 757 South Side and Peninsula customers they called them by name:

"Now, Plumber Specialist Keon! Now, Dual Master Tech James! Now, Plumbers Bryan, John S. and David!" On, HVAC Specialist Doug! On, Lead Installer Jacob, On Helpers Zach and DJ, and Plumber John Mc!" To the top of the rooftop HVAC Units! To the Air Handlers and Apollos in the knee wall! Now dash away, dash away, dash away all!

Down the chimney the A-1 American Plumbers and HVAC Specialists came with a bound.

They were dressed all in God Bless America red, from head to toe,

their clothes were all tanished with Insulation and, yes, sometimes your POO POO!

Then Keon, Plumbing Specialist, checked pressure and mains,
While James, Master Dual Tech, traced lines and drains.
Bryan, John S., and David — Plumbing Technicians strong —
Followed flow the paths where the backups had gone wrong.

Doug, HVAC Specialist, mapped airflow and heat,
While Jacob, Lead HVAC Installer, tuned systems complete.
As Zach and DJ, Installation Helpers, worked fast on their feet,
Each task fell in place — coordinated and neat.
And John Mc, Senior Plumbing Technician, tools ready in hand,
Brought order from chaos just as he’d planned.

Like dry winter leaves near a condenser’s hum,
They turned through the night till the problems were done.
Aaron, HVAC Master Technician, tuned with finesse,
Till heat pumps ran smooth and drain lines ran stressless.

Mini-splits whispered, the warmth settled in,
Toilets flushed clean, faucets sparkled again.
From shower valves, disposals, and sinks down the line,
Every fix fell neatly right into its time.

They spoke not too much as the work reached its end,
But shared gentle wisdom like family and friends:
“Spring tune-ups matter. Fall checks save the day.
Preventative care keeps emergencies away.”

Operations manager, Samantha sprang to the sleigh,

Gave her whole A-1 American team a whistle,

and away the A-1 Elves: Matt and Johnathan Flew like the down of a thistle.

But I heard Lisa, Misty, and Barbara exclaim as the red A-1 American sleigh drove out of sight,

"Merry Christmas to all, and to all a God Bless America night!"

Our rising A-1 American Dual Technician, Lance, age 6, would like to remind you all of the TRUE REASON FOR THE SEASON:

“Immanuel means GOD WITH US”

“When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.”

First, a little background on Labor Day and how it came to play into American history. Labor Day is celebrated to honor the contributions and achievements of American workers and the labor movement. It recognizes the role of workers in building the strength, prosperity, and well-being of the country. The Holiday began in the late 19th century, during a time when working conditions were often harsh—long hours, unsafe workplaces, and little time off were common. Labor unions pushed for better conditions, fair wages, and reasonable workdays. The first Labor Day parade took place in New York City in 1882, organized by the Central Labor Union. In 1894, after years of growing support and following major labor strikes, Congress officially made Labor Day a federal holiday. It’s observed on the first Monday in September, serving both as a tribute to workers and as a symbolic “end of summer” celebration. Not to be confused with International Workers’ Day which is celebrated May 1st worldwide and focuses more on activism and workers’ rights, Labor Day focuses more as a tribute to workers with family time, picnics, parades, and community events like our concer series at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Hampton Roads -- which encompasses the Penninsula (Williamsburg, Newport News, and Hampton) AND South Side (Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, and Suffolk) has always been a working community, from the shipbuilders at Newport News Shipbuilding, to the longshoremen at the Port of Virginia, to the military and civil service workers who keep our bases running. Labor Day really ties into that history because it’s a reminder of how much the region’s workforce has shaped the local economy and even national security. For many families here, Labor Day is also (for the lucky) the last long weekend before school starts, so you’ll see people heading to the beach at Virginia Beach, picnicking at local parks, or attending community events. It’s both a recognition of hard work and a chance for people in Hampton Roads to pause, recharge, and enjoy the fruits of their labor before the busy fall season kicks in. From the A-1 American Services family to yours... Please have a safe and happy Labor Day!! And if you find you need help with any clogs, water heater leaks, HVAC hiccups, clooged toilets our guys are standing by ready to help you and your family at a moments notice!
