How to Fix a Faulty Thermostat

With all that yo-yoing, your thermostat can go into overdrive, and sometimes you may find you need to re-set/re-start it. That's where A-1 American comes in! We created this handy dandy set of instructions so you can skip the call and get straight back to a comfortable home in no time.

First, let's address a couple of common questions.

Is a thermostat the same as an air conditioner or furnace? No.

The easiest way to fix a thermostat to re-start it. Find your button and hold it for 5 seconds, then release. If this doesn't fix it then its best to take a look at the user manual set of instructions to reset it. This will take you back to the original factory settings so its best to record them

Hopefully you have your instructions saved in a safe (and easily recalled) spot. Give them a read. Nine times out of ten this will solve your issue and your home will be back to your desired temperature in no time. If you can't find your instructions, have no fear, the internet is here. Through your search bar you can type in the make and model of your thermostat plus the words manual PDF and the instructions will pull up. An example of this would be:

If that doesn't work, there are a few other solutions to try before you call A-1 American to come out.

Change the batteries. Pretty simple, but you would be surprised how many times this fixes the problem.
Flip the batteries around, then switch them back. Wait at least 30 seconds before switching back.
Cut the breaker off and on.
